One weekend in September, we spent a fabulous engagement weekend at The Homestead Resort located in Glen Arbor, MI. Joe reserved a two bedroom room in the Inn with a STELLAR view of Lake Michigan. The “plan” or so I thought was to take a relaxing “mini vacation” to escape from stresses in life and spend quality time, just the two of us. On Friday (yes, September 11th), I raced up to TC to grab Joe and bee line it to the lakeshore before sunset. We made it with just minutes to spare… and just enough time for me to race through the second level of our room in awe.

If anyone has been or gets the chance to stay at the Homestead, you will totally understand its beauty and know how incredible the sunsets are. We made it to a comfortable spot on the beach and watched the sun sink below the horizon line. We talked about a variety of things as we sat there… including my hatred for mosquitos that were swarming around us, how beautiful the lakeshore is and of course Joe’s newfound interest in salmon fishing. Eventually, we both got on the topic of our “three year anniversary” span and how incredible our journey has been.
For those who know me, I am usually really really good about dates… they’re important to me. So of course, I start reminiscing about how he first contacted me years after high school in late August and how our first “date” was 9.17.06… and how he officially asked me to be his girlfriend right before his birthday. As I sit here and type this out… I almost wonder if he knew I would go on my typical babble about dates. As I remind him of when we first “officially” became a couple… he starts in on the proposal… perfect timing. I was… awestruck. I mean really, whoa! I can’t remember exactly what he said, something along the lines of no doubts, how he knew we would be something amazing on our first date and how he was hoping we could have another date in our relationship I would remember for ever… !!!!!!!! He was on one knee with the most gorgeous ring I have EVER seen
And of course… I said yes![]()
