Your Petal Palette: Yellow

Spring is here and that means it’s time for one of my favorite colors to make it’s appearance. Yellow is a bright, fun, energetic color full of life and versatility. Yellow is a fabulous accent color and is known to denote happiness and is also high in visibility.

This modern bouquet of craspedia shows the bold presence of the color.

Personally you can’t go wrong with slate, yellow and a touch of white. What’s your favorite yellow inspired color palette?

This upcoming season, we’re seeing gray play a dominant role in color schemes… yellow, gray and white… turquoise, slate, and white… pink and sterling… This beautiful color adds an elegant, sophisticated touch to your event. See the images below for a bit of inspiration!!

I love the detail on the bridal bouquet. The slate gray satin ribbon and pearl pins take this simple white bouquet and turn it into the epitome of classic elegance!

Our Valentines Day Collection

As a designer, I find inspiration from many areas. This year I couldn’t help but fall in love with White House Black Market’s spring collection. The entire collection is full of beautifully chic feminine fashion. From breathless floral accessories to a gorgeous sculpted poplin ruffled top, I can’t help but want one of everything!

In my opinion, classic beauty will never go out of style just look at Audrey Hepburn. She was and still is an iconic symbol of grace and elegance. The Modern Day design team has been working hard to bring these floral fashions to life. Who better to help introduce our romantic collection than Audrey herself?

Gorgeous red roses in a clean white vase is given the perfect feminine touch with a hand-crafted flower and accent ribbon.

This lush arrangement is filled with beautiful hydrangea and craspedia. However I’m hopelessly in love over of the fun, flirty elements found in the heart wire and specialty ribbon treatment.

Your Petal Palette: Chocolate

Deep, rich and warm…. Natural, organic, down to earth. No matter what your style, chocolate brown can play a large role in acting as the accent or focal color for your event!

To give this look a true modern, but earthy look, we used brown sticks and showed the dirt to and root system of wheat grass!

Hollia is a beautiful and unique product from Hawaii. It is actually a fern before it “flowers.” Jodi Bos of In Any Event, had the brilliant idea of using these cute little guys to hold her escort cards for Summer 2008 wedding!

Sigh… natural + asian inspiration. Possibly one of my favorite looks for its simplicity and sophistication. By incorporating natural shades and tints of brown, you can truly create a romantic look.

Now… above I mentioned brown adding WARMTH to your event. And WOW, does it ever at this event! The use of light and dark brown helps ground the pops of red, adds elegance yet a fun flair and not to mention it looks like a tropical oasis! Sign me up!

Your Petal Palette: Black

Dark, creepy, mysterious? HECK NO! We say modern, deep and totally versatile. Hints of black to the color palette can give your event a totally different vibe. I know it sounds scary to add black to your wedding but try adding black feathers, a clear black charger or better yet, a schwarzwalder calla lily and you’ll be singing a different toon.

Love a certain color but want to give it something a little extra? Maybe a splash of black is just the ticket… it is definitely ok to be a little bit of a diva!!

Your Petal Palette: White

Clean, simple, fresh, elegant but add a tiny splash of color to a white pallet and BAM it’s any one’s ball game! White is such a wonderful color to work with. It goes great with any season but with touch of sparkle and shine to a winter wedding it looks like a fairytail come to life.

The soft white feathers with soft white roses and a hint of glam just makes me melt.

Here is a list of white blooms throughout the year….

Spring- dahlia, dogwood, freesia, geranium, hyacinth, iris, lily of the valley, lisianthus, tulips, violet.

Summer- anemone, baby’s breath, daisy, garden rose, gladiola, hydrangea, peony, phlox, stock, sweet pea.

Fall- aster, cosmos, kale, white spider mum, zinnia

Winter- amaryllis, camellia, hycainth, pussy willow, white poinsettia

Year-Round- calla lily, stephanotis, gardenia, orchid, rose, lily.

Your Petal Palette: Red

Romance, passion and love are just a few of the feelings I get from seeing the color red. Red is color often seen for a classic wedding however with a few greens and extra special details shades of red work great for exotic or Asian inspired event.

A solid red flower with white or black accents gives the arrangement a real modern vibe.

How precious is this bouquet?! The deep red roses with hints of stephanotis, embellished with crystals creates a timeless arrangement.

When I think of pink, I think femininity, gentleness, and oh-so-pretty. There is nothing more romantic than a lush combination of beautiful shades of pink flowers. Below are a few of our favorite designs that truly captured the sweetness and loveliness of our clients!

To add a twist of fun, we added spiky dahlias for a different type of textured. The varying shades also helped add depth to the bouquet!
