A Lakeshore Wedding: Beth and Cesar

The setting was absolutely spectacular – the weather, gorgeous and the couple, so in love. I’m so thankful to Jessica from Stella Event Design for allowing us to play a part in Beth and Cesar’s big day. This wedding was one for the books.

The lush bouquet was a combination of some of my favorite blooms: Juliet, Rosalind and Cymbeline garden roses, peach hypericum and Sarah Bernhardt peony. This was the brides favorite flower and thanks to a California grower, her bouquet had peony in September!!

How adorable is that little peanut with her grapevine pomander ball?

Photographer, Jennifer Mayo, did a marvelous capturing not only the moment but the spectacular backdrop. This image is simply breathtaking!

The room layout I designed for this wedding contained a mix of long banquet style tables and squares featuring a different but complimentary centerpiece design.

The hydrangea is so absolutely perfect it hardly looks real!

This table shot showcases all the care and attention paid to each and every place setting. Beth did a wonderful job working through the details with her mother, Jessica and the caterer.

The scrumptious dessert display florals. Lush, full and absolutely dynamic!

This is one of my favorite detail shots Jennifer captured that day. It showcases not only the florals beautifully but the classic navy pintuck linen and pretty napkin detail.

Event Recap: Engagement Party at Meijer Gardens

Last month, we worked alongside a beautiful bride-to-be and her mother to design a homespun engagement party located at the Michigan’s Farm Garden. This well-kept secret is a three-quarters replica of the home that Lena Meijers grew up in as a child. The home had all the sweet touches you would expect–an adorable red barn, a gorgeous garden, farm animals represented by bronze sculptures and a perfectly appointed farm house in butter yellow, of course. The setting was straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting.

The beautiful gardens surrounding the property served as our design inspiration for the material and colors used in the florals. Garden roses in shades of pink, coral and butter yellow coupled with several fantastic complimentary materials brought this country-style engagement party to life.

For those of you who have yet to visit Frederik Meijer Gardens, I would strongly recommend you take time to visit this absolutely stunning location. They not only host weddings and events, they host outdoor concerts, an annual butterfly exhibit and the gardens and sculpture park are truly spectacular. And now through September, Frederik Meijer Gardens is hosting a stellar collection of Chihully pieces. Thanks to Chaparral Shimko, the event coordinator, I was given a private tour during our event design meeting. I couldn’t help but leave feeling awe-inspired and creatively recharged.

Garden Wedding Recap: Emily and Tyler Part I

Just a few days ago we had the opportunity of designing an absolutely beautiful wedding for an amazing couple. This will surely be one of my all time favorites! The setting was surreal and magical with mature trees, winding trails and a dramatic view of the Thornapple River, it was a scene straight out of a fairytale. Here is just a tiny glimpse into this sweet garden wedding.

Emily and Tyler’s wedding was perfectly appointed with all the tasty details you would expect from a stylish couple. Working alongside Emily and her mother Sheri was a true pleasure. Not only did they trust us to bring their vision to life they also allowed complete creative freedom. They truly were a dream client to work with.

Special thanks goes out to Aletha of Pearls Event and her entire team who were there to see that the wedding and reception ran smoothly. It makes such a huge difference when you can have a group of professionals taking away the stress of the day! Great work ladies and we look forward to working with you again in the future!

I want to give HUGE thank you to Kai and Kayley Herringa for capturing the day perfectly. Their work is clean and crisp with a soft touch. Photographs are all we have as a testament to our work and I so appreciate when it is captured so beautifully! I can’t wait to share more of the images but for now here’s a little sneak peek.

The absolutely stunning bride! I think Emily looks like a young Grace Kelly, so elegant and beautiful. Emily’s bridal gown was in fact a reconstructed version of her grandmothers dress with a few minor modern alterations. If you look closely you can see the soft layer of dotted swiss fabric which was carried throughout several details in the wedding.

The Bridal bouquet was a combination of David Austin Juliet garden roses and bi-color spray roses, peach hypericum and white peony finished with the sleeve from her grandmothers dress. The bridesmaids carried the smaller version of the bridal bouquet however we substituted the peony with hydrangea. The bouquets matched perfectly with their J.Crew dresses.

Abbey Fowler of Syd design did a marvelous job creating that first glimpse into Emily and Tyler wedding. I couldn’t help but fall in love with her sweet invitation design featuring the dotted swiss paper with beautiful ribbon accent. This lovely invitation served as a springboard for several of the event design elements for this wedding.

I have to admit my mouth was watering the entire time Barb and her team were setting up this Amy Atlas inspired dessert bar. I’m a sucker for dainty feminine details especially when it’s coupled with SWEETS!

How much do you love the menu display…LOVE IT!!! The best part, San Chez catered the event. YUM!!

I’m not sure what to talk about first; my favorite linen from LaTavola, the beautiful table number or the simply sweet centerpiece. I’ll just let you enjoy this one as is. :)

When designing an event, I’m a firm believer that tiny details make the difference, fortunately Sheri, the mother of the bride, appreciated them as well. Beautiful ivory Midori ribbon was added to the napkins with a tiny touch of peach hypericum. The china we selected was a vintage inspired pattern coupled with a silver beaded charger which worked beautifully with the LaTavola Bingo Natural and Ivory Peony linen.

I don’t know about you, but I think the tent nestled among the trees surrounded by lush ground covering makes for one dreamy setting. Hats off to the team of Special Events Rental for doing such a wonderful job adding fabric touches and hanging chandeliers in the tents.
